Fear is a reaction to a real, present threat.  Anxiety imagines a threat…usually over and over again.  The anxious person lives in the world of “what ifs?”  Anxiety is an unhealthy need to be in control that makes everything seem bigger and worse than it is.  Everyone experiences anxiety at some time in their lives, but when anxiety becomes a constant unwanted companion you should consider seeking professional help.

Outpatient Treatment for Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems

The good news is that often this form of treatment, if done correctly, can be quite successful.  The not so good news is that working with Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems is a specialized form of treatment that is complicated and lengthy.  It is best done with the full participation and support of the youth’s caretakers.  The courts may be involved and when they are a probation officer will part in the treatment planning.  A strong safety plan, individual and family therapy, parent training and polygraphs are just some of the pieces that need to be put in place if treatment is to successfully resolve the issues that led to the inappropriate sexual behaviors.  In instances when the victim is in the home family reunification is possible once treatment is completed.

Questions

If you have questions before joining us for counseling or assessment services is the right option for you, take a few moments to read through the answers to our frequently asked questions below. Our team will also be happy to answer any questions you have, so don’t hesitate to contact us.

Should I Consider Counseling?

Counseling can be a beneficial experience for anyone. Therapy can help you understand, make meaning, and overcome your life experiences. Everyone struggles at some point in life. As counselors, our role is to provide you with an objective perspective on the challenges you face daily. We can help you understand the roots of your struggles, develop your strengths, and cultivate the skills to tackle any challenge. Counseling helps you lead your best life.

How Long Will I Need to go to Counseling?

Every person’s needs are different. We will personalize your counseling plan to help you through daily challenges, trauma, grief, or any other concern. Some people are in counseling for a brief time while others need more long term care. This will be something your therapist can discuss with you once you begin therapy.

Who Should Consider Assessment?

We work with people who need assessments for a variety of reasons. From simply wanting a confirmation or diagnosis for additional information or clarification for specific concern to helping people who need pre-surgical evaluations, we have you covered. The assessment tools we utilize are all tested and proven reliable, state of the art and hand-selected to target the questions that need answering. The results are delivered in the form of a written report which is reviewed with you in detail giving you time to ask questions and process the findings.

How Long Does Assessment Take?

Every assessment is different once you and your assessor have determined what questions need to be answered they can better approximate how much time an assessment can take. Generally, you can count on 3-4 hours of interview and testing time.

What Should I Expect from the New Patient Process?

We make the new patient process as simple as possible. However you find Solutions Psychological Services, you’ll get started with a phone call or email. Dr. Pita takes his own phone calls and respond to his own emails, so you’ll always be talking directly with one of our specialists.
