Outpatient Treatment for Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems
The good news is that often this form of treatment, if done correctly, can be quite successful. The not so good news is that working with Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems is a specialized form of treatment that is complicated and lengthy. It is best done with the full participation and support of the youth’s caretakers. The courts may be involved and when they are a probation officer will part in the treatment planning. A strong safety plan, individual and family therapy, parent training and polygraphs are just some of the pieces that need to be put in place if treatment is to successfully resolve the issues that led to the inappropriate sexual behaviors. In instances when the victim is in the home family reunification is possible once treatment is completed.
Dr. Pita has over 30 years experience evaluating a wide range of psychological and emotional issues. Typically evaluations are requested in the assessment of personality, custody and divorce, foster care and adoption, juvenile sexual offenses, adult and juvenile forensic issues, civil litigation, trauma and abuse, pre-surgical readiness (i.e., renal transplants, bariatric surgery etc.), intelligence and achievement, and Mental Health Checks.
