John Pita, Ph.D, LSOTP-S
Clinical and Forensic Psychologist
Dr. Pita completed a Bachelor and Master of Education degree in Counseling and Human Development at Hardin-Simmons University in 1982, and 1983 respectively. He earned a second Masters degree (M.S.) in Clinical Psychology at Abilene Christian University in 1985 and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School-Dallas,Texas in 1991.
He is trained in CBT, TF-CBT. DBT and Insight Oriented Therapies. Dr. Pita is well versed in treating a wide variety of issues; these include anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, family/marital conflict, pre-marital therapy, personality disorders, adolescent related issues, and self-care among others. He is also skilled in personality, achievement and intellectual assessments, court ordered evaluations, court testimony and supervision of mental health professionals in need of fulfilling criteria for licensure. In addition to being licensed as a Clinical Psychologist, he is a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (adolescents) – Supervisor (LSOTP-S).
