Meet Our Mental Health Treatment Specialist, John Pita, Ph.D, LSOTP-S
One of the many factors that make Solutions Psychological Services different from other Plano practices is that Dr. Pita has such a diversity of experience working with a multiple populations that have significant complex psychological, emotional, social and interpersonal issues. Much of his experience has been with adults, couples, families, teens and children in the areas of complex trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, stress management, life coaching, marital and interpersonal conflict, pre-marital preparation, self-esteem issues, unresolved childhood trauma, loneliness and isolation, quality of life issues, healthy self-care, coping skills deficits and youth with sexual behavior problems.

Dr. Pita worked as the Chief Psychologist for the Dallas County Juvenile Department where he was employed for 30 years. During his tenure, he developed the juvenile department’s Psychology Department into the largest, most comprehensive treatment division of its kind, for youth and their families in the state of Texas. Simultaneously, he maintained a private practice with a focus on adult personality assessment and the treatment of adults, youth and couples. He is currently in full-time private practice where he offers counseling and personality assessment to adults, couples, families and youth.
Dr. Pita completed a Bachelor and Master of Education degree in Counseling and Human Development at Hardin-Simmons University in 1982, and 1983, a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at Abilene Christian University in 1985 and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Dallas, Texas in 1991. He is trained in CBT, TF-CBT. DBT and Insight Oriented therapies. He is well versed in treating a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, conflict resolution, family conflict, communication skills issues, stress and anger management, developing healthy self-care and life skills training as well as in personality assessment and court testimony. He is a Licensed Sex offender Treatment Provider – Supervisor (LSOTP-S).
